Prea runda

La “prea runda”, o meglio la pietra rotonda, è situata sulla pavimentazione di Piazza Duomo all’incrocio con la Salita alla Chiesa. In passato, e fino alla metà del secolo scorso, intorno ad essa la domenica mattina poco prima della messa “grande”, si riunivano i braccianti agricoli del paese in attesa di essere chiamati a lavorare da qualche possidente terriero nella settimana ventura. Proprio intorno alla famosa prea runda si stabiliva la paga settimanale in base al numero delle giornate effettivamente prestate; tutto avveniva in assenza di previdenza e assistenza medica.

Prea runda
The "prea runda" is a round stone found on the pavement of Piazza Duomo at the intersection of Salita alla Chiesa. Up until the middle of the 20th century, around this stone on a Sunday morning before the main mass, the agricultural labourers of the area gathered and waited to be called to work for the coming week by local landowners. Around the well-known “prea runda” weekly wages were established on the basis of the number of days worked; in those days it all took place in the absence of social security and medical assistance.
